Want to Lease Art? Call Art Remba!

December 02nd, 2011

We’ve all heard stories about art thievery—the 'Mona Lisa' in 1911, the famous Bostonian theft of 1990—but here's a new movement that might just satiate art lovers’ thirsts for acquiring new pieces, without having to steal them.

Art Remba is a company that leases art for periods of time determinable by the leaser. The service prides itself in its easy management of the service. Step 1: Apply for Membership. Step 2: Browse Art. Step 3: Lease Art. The mind behind Art Remba, Nahema Mehta, an associate at an art private equity fund based out of New York, says, “For the uninitiated, the world of fine art collecting is intimidating and near impossible to penetrate—I wanted to challenge that norm by creating something that I always wished existed. I saw an untapped resource (dormant gallery inventory) and an underserved demographic (young professionals and corporates with white walls, financial means, and a desire for fine art). My goal with Remba is to bring the two together in an enjoyable, accessible, and mutually beneficial way. I want to give our members the luxury of playing by their own rules, and consuming fine art at their own pace. At the same time, I want galleries to rest assured that their art is reaching a desirable, vibrant, and trusted audience—which is why we handpick each member.”

The best part about Remba is that if you love a piece too much to bear parting with it, you can opt to buy it and 50% of Membership dues will be discounted from the purchase price so that members are always investing to own.
